Styling Identity:
When
I am old
This project was about creating fashion editorial pages inspired by the chosen poem and publication. Our team chose 'When I am old' by Jenny Joseph as our inspiration and created editorial spreads for i-D magazine.
We found a great model on the local street - Margaret, a 83 year-old lady. We made her a model for the first time in her life with bright energized outfits.
This purple hat is made by a tutu skirt for babies. In this photo, she is dreaming like a teenage girl.
She wears sunglasses with a colorful rain poncho in the rain. This links to the old lady wearing slippers in the rain in the poem.
The purple pencil skirt with the pastel blue coat give the model young and cheerful feelings.
While Margaret wears colorful and pop outfits, Mira, a young lady wears classic black and white lady-like outfits. The black and white photos represent the past of the old lady.
She sits very quietly and politely to show her identity of a good house wife.
The young herself uses an umbrella in the rain, but there's a link of big hats to old herself.
This styling is inspired by 60's Jackie style, that is created by Jacqueline Kennedy, a wife of John F. Kennedy.
'When I am an old woman
I shall wear purple
and
make up for the sobriety of my youth.'
Styling Identity:
CD cover
In this unit, I experienced a location shoot for creating CD cover of a randomely given song, Concrete jungle by Bob Marley. The location was chosen by our team's interpretation of the lyrics and melody.
Inside - Back - Front
Inside ( lyrics )
The RED - GREEN - YELLOW colours of rastafarism that is a naturalism movement Bob Marley devoted his life to. The lyrics of Concrete Jungle represent the hardness of living in the city as Bob Marley spent his early days in the US living like a homeless.
While rastafa colours show a hope for going back to Africa, the reality of life in the city is represented by a girl sitting on the street in the black and white photo.
